Following are some FAQ’s as provided by the New American Independent Party to help those interested better understand the party’s history and vision.When was the New American Independent Party founded? The New American Independent Party was founded in 2004 in Wayne, Pennsylvania. The New American IndependentParty held its first official meeting on Election Day at the Valley Forge National Historical Park near the arch in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.In how many states does the New American Independent Party have members? The New American Independent Party now has members in every state and the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.). In addition, we have a members who are U.S. Citizens living abroad. The NAIP also has members in the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Is the New American Independent Party a liberal or conservative Party? The NAIP is neither a liberal or conservative party. The NAIP supports pragmatic solutions and our platform contains amixture of what might appear to be liberal, moderate and conservative views. The NAIP platform has a consistent thread of pragmatism and national self-reliance running through it. Like most Americans, our members generally have a combination of liberal, moderate, and conservative views.Is being a member of the New American Independent Party the same as being an independent? No, the NAIP is a political body striving to become a nationwide political party. Currently, many of our members are registered as independent voters as we have not begun or achieved full party status in most states. However, as we become recognized as a full party across the country our members will be able to register as NAIP voters in their home states.Has the New American Independent Party recruited any candidates yet? Yes, the New American Independent Party is putting together a strong field of qualified candidates to run all across thenation, some of whom have already announced and many others will announce soon. The NAIP has a goal of fielding hundreds of citizen candidates nationwide in the 2012 general election.Will the New American Independent Party field a Presidential candidate in 2012? The NAIP expects a strong field of candidates to seek our Presidential nomination for 2012. As of June 24, 2009, eight candidates have already committed to seeking our Presidential nomination in 2012. We expect many more candidates to step forward in the next few years. At our 2012 National Convention, NAIP members will either vote for a Presidential nominee or NOTC (None of the Candidates). If our membership votes NOTC, then the NAIP will not run a Presidential candidate in 2012.Is the New American Independent Party affiliated with the American Independent Party or the Independent American Party? No. The New American Independent Party is not affiliated or related to any other political party except for the Interdependent 3rd Party in Massachusetts. Several of our state parties (California, Delaware, Nevada, New York & Vermont) use the party name National Self Reliance Party instead of the label New American Independent Party to avoid confuse with other political parties with similar names. The NAIP is currently considering changing the name of our party to avoid confusion with these other parties. If it is determined that a name change is needed, then a new name will be selected and announced near the end of 2010.Will the NAIP hold a National Convention? Yes, the NAIP will hold a 2012 National Convention in a location yet to be determined.Do I need to have political experience in order to serve as a NAIP party coordinator? No. Previous experience in politics is not required in order for one to serve as a coordinator or to run for office as aNew American Independent Party candidate. Many of our members are new to politics while others have extensive political experience in other parties before finding a home with the New American Independent Party. We welcome all to our party.Does the NAIP endorse candidates from other parties or independent candidates? In rare occasions, the NAIP may endorse independent candidates or candidates of other political parties.
