Which party do you think is more conscious about civil rights, the Republicans or the Democrats? To make an informed decision as a voter, you should first know where each party stands on the issue of Civil rights.

The Democratic Party Platform states that they aim to eliminate hate and discrimination due to race, religion, sex or sexual preference. The Democrats are against the death penalty for prisoners and yet support a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion.

The Republican’s on the other hand would like to ban gays from the military and make it illegal to get an abortion except in rare cases of rape or which endanger the mother. Republican’s support making a constitutional amendment against allowing same sex marriages. They want to do away with affirmative action which requires a business to meet a quota of how many people of one sex, or color they must hire to meet the government standards. They support women serving in the armed forces except in a combat role.

Now that you have viewed each Party’s position, it is time to make your decision based on the facts which one is more conscious on the subject of civil rights.

The United States has been perceived by some as a bully in the world community. The US attempts to use its position as a super power to coerce other nations into doing what they want. Many nations turn to the US for political support and other matters and may feel that they have to go along with what the US wants. The US makes a point of letting nations know that they will only give funding or support when they feel there is a mutual benefit for the US.The whole story can be found at http://www.education.com/reference/article/bullying-problems-some-interventions/ No other country but the US has the ability to inject themselves into conflicts between two countries and make demands that they show up at the White House for a summit. This could be viewed as bullying tactic as often countries seem to feel they don’t have a choice but to comply or face unwanted consequences like reduction in aid or less than favored nation status. A bully is can be described as someone who uses their strength or their influence as intimidation to force another to do what they want. While that may not be the intention of the US, many countries see them that way from a political standpoint.

Remember when politics was about the facts and the decisions that were made. Remember when the sensational twist was frowned on and politicians went to great lengths to keep the focus on the issues. Once upon a time and a long time ago when politics and sex made a bad combination. Remember when a dirt digging journalist was scorned for concentrating on non political events. Today it seems votes are won with drama and deception. The more sensational the scandal the more secure that politician’s position seems to be.Want more? Click here/tag The political scandal filled with sex and non issue topics seems to remain on the minds of the voters the longest and have the most impact on public opinion. It use to be that a scandal that focus on sex, affairs or violence was responsible for the demise of the politician and left a negative impact for the political party they represent. Today the issues seem to take a back seat to the drama in a politician’s life. It’s no longer about what that politician ideals are or the good that they can do within the community now the focus is on what hot topics the politician generated in today’s headlines.

Our founding fathers envisioned a country where the traditional roles of government were reversed. The monarchy dictatorship societies that have prevailed throughout human history have been proven to fail time after time. It seemed that this form of government only resulted in an oppressive tyranny. This could be solved by a creating a republic where the people of the country had the power, not the king. America’s founding fathers fled from the English monarchy for the purpose of religious freedom. Years later, after the American Revolution, they founded this country upon the basis of rights, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness.

The laws of America were written so that its people, not the select few in government power, were the masters. The citizens of the country had rights, which was an astonishingly new concept to the world in the 18th century. This meant that the people had the right to speech, travel, religious freedom, justice in the courts, and to elect their government officials.

While the laws written in the US Constitution are still valid, are they still being respected by the politicians in Washington? It’s hard to believe that this is the same America our founding fathers have planned.

The separation of personal and public life is something that is supposed to be apparent in all political forums. This seems to be so rarely the case when we see infidelity, gambling and other personal vices affect political motivations of leaders across the world. So if the negative aspects of a politicians life can affect their work life how much more could an emotional event like the death of a spouse affect the rulings of a political leader?

It truly comes down to the politician in question I think as grieving the loss of a loved one varies so much. Some people mourn privately and hide their pain and feelings from the world. In this type of politician I think you would see an increased effort to perform their tasks as thought nothing was different. For those that process their emotions in a more outward fashion the effect on their political decisions would be much more obvious. Depending on the death being due to illness or some other event such as murder or a car accident it seems as though you could expect those who process their mourning externally to start supporting political causes to help eliminate the cause of death in their loved one.

The answer to this question is yes, and there are many reasons as to why. First of all, senators serve longer terms than representatives, six years as opposed to two, giving them triple the amount of time to have more influence. There are also fewer senators than representatives, 100 as opposed to 435, making each senator’s vote more valuable.

Senators also have more responsibilities than representatives, as they have the power to ratify treaties, confirm nominations of federal officials like judges, and are also the designated political body to hold impeachment hearings.

In most cases, with the exceptions being some of the less populated states, senators are voted upon by more people since there are only two per state. This means that they represent more people than representatives, who often only answer to particular districts within states. Senators sit on more committees, have bigger staffs, and have been elected to president more often than representatives.

All of these facts, along with public perception of greater power, add up to a significantly greater amount of influence for senators on Capitol Hill. They receive more media coverage and are wooed more by lobbyists, who are well aware of the significant influence that senators possess.

Should the federal government be involved in donating to political parties? Ask this question to various people and you’ll get various answers. Some answers you get may be more philosophical while other people may not show much of an interest at all.
So why should you care if the federal government donates money to their favorite political parties? Think about this for a while.
Have you got an idea of what to do? This is a tough question that needs to be figured out. On one hand there needs to be freedom for the individual. So the President and all of the women and men serving in his cabinet should be able to donate money to whoever they want. They are individuals and citizens of America and are afforded that right. However, they do have a much higher threshold of power that may be seen as the federal government showing favoritism to one party over the other. The federal government is supposed to be for the people and by the people, not for a specific party by a specific party. Do you see the conundrum?
So what do you think? Invite your friends over for fondue, http://www.bestfondue.com/fondue-store.html tonight and discuss it.
