The separation of personal and public life is something that is supposed to be apparent in all political forums. This seems to be so rarely the case when we see infidelity, gambling and other personal vices affect political motivations of leaders across the world. The answer to this question is yes, and there are many reasons as to why. First of all, senators serve longer terms than representatives, six years as opposed to two, giving them triple the amount of time to have more influence. There are also fewer senators than representatives, 100 as opposed to 435, making each senator’s vote more valuable.
